An Eltham man has been jailed after a brutal attack on a woman at a caravan park in Kent.

Dean Fowler, 43, had denied causing GBH with intent following the incident in Thanet in September 2017.

However, he pleaded guilty to GBH on December 11 and was sentence to three years in prison.

Fowler and his victim, a woman in her 40s, were staying at a caravan park in Monkton when he stamped on her, breaking her leg in three places.

Investigating officer PC Nikki Rogers said: "Fowler had been drinking at the caravan park’s clubhouse and returned to their caravan at about 10pm.

"Worried that he was drunk, his victim refused to open the caravan door. Fowler smashed the door in, punched her in the face repeatedly and, when she curled up in a foetal position in an attempt to protect herself, he stamped and jumped on her leg three times."

PC Rogers added: "Fowler inflicted a vicious and unprovoked attack on his victim, breaking her leg in three places.

"She needed surgery to repair the breaks and was on crutches for six months. She also suffered a fractured cheekbone in the assault.

"He then called a member of his family to take her back to London where an ambulance was called."

Officers said Fowler’s victim was so frightened she didn’t report the assault until January 2018 when a friend called police on her behalf.

During police interviews Fowler, who was also given a five-year restraining order not to contact his victim, claimed she had sustained the injuries when she fell out of the caravan when she went to walk the dog.

He told officers he had never been violent towards her.
