A man who "dragged a fence for two miles with his car and parked in a ditch" is currently under investigation by Surrey Police.
The man, who has not been named, reportedly flagged down a police car in the Elmbridge area to “ask for a lift to Essex”, according to a post on Surrey Police's Elmbridge Beat Facebook page.
The social media post, which referred to an incident dealt with by a PC Stevens, read: "On Friday 7th December, in the early hours, an optimistic fella flagged down PC Stevens, to ask for a lift to Essex. When asked why, he explained that he’d had a little issue with his car. That was in fact a wee bit of an understatement.
"It turns out that he’d driven for two miles with a fence attached to the underside of his car, after which he thought a ditch was a suitable place to park.
"Fortunately for him, he was only slightly injured. More fortunately, no-one else was injured."
The post continued to say the man failed a roadside breath test and drugs wipe test, but added officers were waiting for blood test results to come back before assessing whether the man would be charged.
