An undefeated professional boxer from Epsom is preparing for his first fight in 2019 at a famous venue in east London.

Daniel Morley, 21, officially turned pro last year and has won all three of his bouts since then – against Paul Ducie, Lee Hallett and Naheem Chaudry, according to BoxRec.

The welterweight, who has worked as an airport baggage handler, postman and labourer to fund his fights, is set to compete at York Hall in Bethnal Green on February 2.

It’ll be the aspiring title fighter’s first match which will have six three-minute rounds.

He said: “Earning a living from pro boxing within the first few years is virtually impossible without an established amateur boxing background.

“Unless you have boxed in the Olympics or secured many national titles, you'll have to pay out thousands of pounds to your opponents and those organising the boxing shows, as well as selling all of your own tickets yourself.

“Because of this I've had to work many jobs – including airport baggage handling, the Royal Mail postman, labouring on building sites, as well as many others.

“Recently I decided to take my own knowledge that I have learned through my years within the sport and pass it on to the community.”

Bethnal Green’s York Hall is a multi-purpose indoor arena and leisure complex which was saved from potential closure in 2005 before undergoing a huge multi-million pound refurbishment.

It was originally opened as a Turkish bathhouse in 1929 before being established as the “home of British boxing”, according to Better Venues.

At one point it was voted the sixth best place in the world to watch live boxing.

Morley hopes to make it four wins from four when it steps into the ring next month.

He added: “It's a pleasure to be able to pass on my knowledge to the community, seeing people' confidence and fitness levels improve is very rewarding and I am constantly learning from those who get involved.

“The people I work with also help with my training, and I now have a routine that allows me more time to train and develop my boxing career.”
