If you have gotten married in Wimbledon recently, the name Emma Soulsby might ring a few bells.

An accountant turned florist, Ms Soulsby scrapped her old life as she re-trained in floristry just a few years ago.

This led to her setting up her shop Emma Soulsby Flowers, based in Merton Abbey Mills.

Now she has been rewarded for her efforts as she was named 'national wedding florist of the year' at the Industry Awards.

She said her success was in part because of her unconventional choice of flowers.

“I’m still shaking to a certain degree after being named winner in two prestigious categories where I was up against some very stiff competition," she said.

“But I couldn’t be happier to be named 'national wedding florist of the year – I’ll treasure the award forever.

“From rural Herefordshire barns to London docklands, all my couples want their flowers to speak for them and I’m so proud to help bring to life their vision on their big day.”

Part of the winning process involved independent votes from Ms Soulsby's past customers and also a bake-off style competition, where she went head-to-head with other florists to create a

wedding table arrangement with button holes and bouquets.

For Emma, the future is certainly rosey.
