A power cut at Wimbledon station is causing confusion for commuters.
People took to Twitter at about 8am this morning to share pictures of empty notice boards and dark platforms.
There was a power cut at #wimbledonstation this morning. It was eery but so lovely. No glaring artificial lights, no flashing displays, no pearcing announcements. Just daylight, the sound of @TfL staff calling each train in and .... calm 🤫 I wish we had a bit more. pic.twitter.com/t2dZ6iBQGr

While some aren't too fussed about the change, there are a few who are worried about the ability - or lack thereof - to tap in and out with their Oyster Card.
No barriers or time boards working at Wimbledon station @districtline @TfL can’t tap in. I better not get charged at ravenscour Park on this journey because of it

@TfL @districtline guys there’s a power cut at Wimbledon station and I haven’t been able to tap out of the tube. Can you ensure I’m not going to be charged the max fare please

But the problem doesn't seem to be isolated to just the station.
Replying to some concerned commuters, the official Twitter account for the District line said: "I'm sorry you were unable to touch in at Wimbledon.
"We're looking into the gate problem.
"Staff at Whitechapel (the commuters destination) will be able to assist you to touch out."
@districtline gates at aren’t working at Wimbledon thus couldn’t scan out. Missed the my train because I was trying to get a refund. So I missed my train and have had to pay penalty fare charge. Happy Friday👍🏼

It is unclear how long the power outage at the station, which is managed by South Western Railway, will last for.
