A Wandsworth rapper is tapping into the "incredible" talent in Tooting by starting a monthly talent showcase.

Ryan Henry, also known as DEACON, has hosted two sessions of Blank Space at Gorringe Park.

Blank Space is a platform for local talent to share and experience fresh and seasoned material.

DEACON said: "I have been growing up around so many open mics and showcases, in different parts of the city but we never had one in Tooting, so we started Blank Space.

"There is so much incredible talent that needs to be showcased. I want to see what talent is in the area and give them a comfortable environment. Blank Space is whatever it means to you, an intimate night of music created for the love of moments in real life.

"In the last session, we had Benezer, a rapper with a great hook. He had the crowd singing along and brought Eleanor Turner, who is a harpist, which was sick. It's for people of all ages and anyone can come through."

Aside from hosting Blank Space, DEACON is continuing to work on new music. He plans to release a new project this year.

If you want to check Blank Space out, head down to Gorringe Park on March 25. Tickets available on the door.
