Trains running between Waterloo and Clapham Junction are expected to be delayed this morning following a signalling problem.

National Rail posted on its website just before 8.30am to say that because of the disruption on South Western Railway, trains running to and from Waterloo may be delayed by up to 15 minutes.

"We have been informed that there is signalling problem between Clapham Junction and London Waterloo, affecting some London bound lines," Network Rail added.

"This means that trains have to run at a reduced speed and gain authority to continue from the signaller before proceeding into London Waterloo.

"As trains are arriving into London Waterloo late, services leaving London Waterloo may also be delayed or changed to minimise disruption.

"Network Rail, who own and maintain the railway infrastructure, have been advised of this issue and their engineers are on site to rectify the problem with the affected signals.

"You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today," the post added.

"Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim."

The delays are expected to last until at least 11am.
