Officers from the Metropolitan Police engaged in the pursuit and arrest of a suspect in Earlsfield on Friday (April 12).

The Wandsworth Times received reports Friday evening that four police cars and a police helicopter had engaged in the pursuit of a suspect on Trewint Street in Earlsfield, Wandsworth, during the afternoon.

A witness near to the scene told the Wandsworth Times that police smashed into a car following a pursuit, and officers got out and continued to pursue a suspect on foot.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that a pursuit and subsequent arrest of a suspect had taken place.

The Met Police said that a vehicle pursuit occurred after the suspect failed to stop their vehicle.

A subsequent foot chase resulted in the arrest of a man on suspicion of a number of offences including burglary and dangerous driving.

The Met Police said: "A number of police vehicles were involved in the pursuit of a car in the Wandsworth area, shortly after 16.00hrs on Friday, 12 April.

"The suspect vehicle was stopped after tactical contact in Weybourne Street.

"The driver of the vehicle was subsequently arrested after a short foot chase.

"He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession with intent to supply class A drugs, dangerous driving and failing to stop."

The Met Police added that the suspect was subsequently taken into custody and that "enquiries continue" in the case.
