"Human remains" discovered at a Greenwich recycling centre have been linked to an abandoned dentist's surgery in Crayford, New Shopper can reveal.

Officers were called to Greenwich Reuse and Recycling Centre in Nathan Way on May 21 at around 11am.

Staff had reportedly found the remains and immediately called the police.

A forensic assessment of the bones was made which confirmed that they were human but detectives have since confirmed that the find is not being treated as suspicious.

Enquiries conducted with the contractor who deposited the waste established that the bones were part of the clearance of a former dentist's surgery that had been abandoned for around ten years.

However, News Shopper has since learned that the former dentist's surgery in question is located in Green Walk, Crayford after police were spotted taping off a property in the street.

A Met spokesman confirmed that officers were dispatched to the former surgery to conduct a search and that it was linked to the find in Greenwich.

Officers made contact with the surgery’s former doctor who is now retired, and he confirmed that the bones had been used in his medical training in India, and he had brought them with him to the UK in the 1960s.
