A man admitted himself to hospital late last night after being shot in Clapham.
Police were called at 9.31pm to Bedford Road at the junction with Fenwick Place following reports of a firearm being shot.
Officers attended the scene, but there was no trace of any victims or suspects.
Then 15 minutes later, officers were alerted to a 24-year-old man who had presented at a south London hospital suffering from a gun shot wound to the leg.
The victim's injuries were declared not life-threatening and detectives have linked this injured person to the reported shooting.
A shell casing has been recovered and enquiries into the full circumstances continue.
At this stage there have been no arrests.
