A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in Tooting.

Police were called to Deeside Road at 4.42pm this afternoon following reports of a stabbing.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a male, believed to be aged in his late teens in a critical condition.

He died at the scene a short while later.

A crime scene remains in place and police are appealing for anyone with information on what happened to call them urgently on 101 quoting CAD reference 5877/14June.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

Formal identification awaits. Police are in the process of informing the victim’s next of kin.

No arrests have been made. Detectives will be following up a number of leads.

The Homicide and Major Crime Command will be leading on this investigation in close partnership with police in Wandsworth.

Local residents can expect an enhanced police presence in the area.
