A man is fighting for his life after being stabbed in Battersea this afternoon.
Police were called at approximately 2.45pm to reports of a man stabbed in Latchmere Road.
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and a man was taken to a south London hospital for treatment; his condition is critical.
Road closures remain in place and no arrests have been made.
Officers from the South West Command Unit investigate.
A Section 60 has also been authorised for areas within Wandsworth and Richmond.
A Section 60 gives the police enhanced powers to stop and search anyone they believe may commit a serious assault or someone they suspect to be carrying a dangerous weapon.
"This was active as of 11.50am today until to 1am tomorrow (July 4)," Wandsworth Police said.
"This is an additional, temporary search power specifically to prevent the carrying of offensive weapons.
"If possible, please avoid the area while we deal with this incident."
A London Ambulance Service spokesman added: "We were called at 2:46pm today to Latchmere Road, to reports of a stabbing.
"We dispatched an incident response officer, advanced paramedic, medic in a response car and an ambulance crew.
"We treated a person at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre."
