British Transport Police have revealed why they were called to a Croydon tram stop yesterday afternoon.

Shortly after 4.15pm on August 1, officers on patrol at Lebanon Road Tram Stop arrested a 24-year-old man from Wandsworth on suspicion of fare evasion, possession of a Class B drug and for being wanted on warrant.

"During the arrest, the man required medical attention and colleagues from the London Ambulance Service were called," A spokesman for BTP said.

“Following an arrest at hospital, the man was taken to police custody where enquiries continue."

Witnesses are asked to contact BTP by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 383 of 01/08/2019.
