Wilfried Zaha allegedly agreed to a truce with Crystal Palace’s hierarchy after an intervention by Mamadou Sakho.

The Ivorian submitted a transfer request during the summer but moves to Arsenal or Everton failed to materialise after the club rejected big-money bids, upsetting the forward.

Manager Roy Hodgson sent Zaha home 48-hours before their season opener against Everton on Saturday with the player 'not in the right frame of mind' to train.

On the eve of the fixture however, The Sun reported that Sakho summoned a player’s meeting to get the 26-year-old back on-side.

The meeting, allegedly held without Hodgson’s knowing, was led by the centre back where he demanded Zaha’s ‘100%’ commitment until the January transfer widow opens when his future can be re-evaluated.

The intervention seemingly worked with Zaha climbing off the bench in the 0-0 at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Palace fans have understandably seen the move from Frenchman Sakho, himself subject to a move away last season, as a sign of his leadership qualities, influence in the dressing room, and affirmation of his standing as a fans favourite.
