The Met Police cordoned off Kingston Station on Monday (August 19) after a receiving reports of a "suspicious item" in the vicinity.
Numerous police cars and officers descended on the railway station Monday afternoon and closed it while specialist teams examined the item in question.
Kingston Council (RBK) meanwhile offered updates on the knock-on impacts to transport in the area while police examined the item.
Wood Street and Richmond Road were both forced to close as the specialist officers made sure the "suspicious item" did not pose any immediate danger.
Around 3.30pm, British Transport Police (BTP) who attended the scene announced that the item was "not suspicious" and the cordon was subsequently lifted.
