SHORT-term letting site Airbnb said it has “reached out” to the owner of a flat on Glasgow's South Side who could be facing council court action after continuing to list the property despite two council bans.

Businessman Ahmed Boutoubane has been issued with two enforcements notices for the four-bedroomed flat at 15 Victoria Road following neighbour and guest complaints.

They centre on the frequency of lets, anti-social behaviour and poor management of bookings.

A spokeswoman for Airbnb claimed it had received no complaints from guests but said it had contacted the owner of the property.

She added: “We ask all hosts to certify that they have permission to list their space and to check and follow local rules, and our Neighbour Tool enables anyone to share specific concerns about a listing in their community.

“The overwhelming majority of hosts and guests on Airbnb are good neighbours and travellers.”

While council regulations actually forbid short-term lets at a flat which has a communal close entrance, enforcement action is ‘complaints led’ which means most owners are free to operate if they do so responsibly and don’t attract complaints.

The flat is also listed on Booking.com and Expedia. Both declined to comment.
