A team of brave teachers and parents from Wandsworth Prep School abseiled from Europe’s highest rooftop helipad this weekend to raise money for the London Air Ambulance.

The team of 15 took on the challenge to descend from the 17th floor of The Royal London Hospital and raised more than £3,500 for the charity.

Headteacher Bridget Saul took part and said: “Without doubt, abseiling more than 300ft is not for the faint-hearted.

"Each member of the team faced their fears and made it to the bottom, spurred on by friends and family and the thought of raising money for such a crucial charity."

Students from the school had previously voted for the Air Ambulance to be their charity partner for 2019 and have taken part in lessons to learn about the charity’s work.

One of the parents that made the decent was Frances Gresty who said: “'What a great experience.

"The helicopter actually landed while we were on the roof and the paramedics thanked us all for the fundraising.

"The whole team is so grateful to everyone who sponsored us to raise such a great amount of money.”
