ZAQIB Hussain has agreed a transfer to Worcester Raiders from West Midlands (Regional) League derby rivals Pershore Town.

The feisty Worcester-based wide man, formerly with Redditch United, could feature when Raiders travel to Stourport Swifts in the first Worcestershire Senior Cup tie in the club’s history tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45).

That will be subject to paperwork but whenever he gets to make his bow, boss Karl Gormley is simply happy to be able to call on another hometown talent.

“We are delighted to bring in Zaq,” said Gormley.

“He is another Worcester player, something that is always important to us at the club. He is a talented young lad and we hope to get see the very best of him.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Colin Smith has left Worcester City.

Formerly with Lye Town and Wolverhampton Sporting Community, Smith featured during pre-season and has started three competitive matches for City this term alongside two substitute appearances.

He was an unused substitute for the fifth time this season at Heather St John’s on Saturday.
