Firefighters from Plumstead, Bexley and Eltham were called to a house fire in Sidcup on November 22.

Around 25 firefighters attended the property at 10:43pm in East Rochester Way after the family who lived in the home were alerted to a fire thanks to their smoke alarming sounding.

The two adults and three children were able to get out of the property and called the emergency services.

Most of the ground floor of the house was damaged by the fire and a single storey extension was completely destroyed.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire and rescued a cat and a dog from the property.

Both pets appeared to have suffered no ill effects from the fire.
