One man has been arrested after a group carrying machetes were chased around Battersea.
At 2.35pm on Friday, January 3 police on patrol in Shuttleworth Road saw and chased three men with machetes.
One man was detained and arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.
A Met Police spokesman said: "The area is being searched for the outstanding two men.
"As a result of this incident search powers under Section 60 have been authorised until 1am on January 4 for the postcode areas of SW11 and SW8."
Under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, Section 60 gives officers the right to search people in a defined area during a specific time period when they believe serious violence will take place and it is necessary to use this power to prevent such violence.
The spokesman added: "Key community partners and the local authority have been briefed.
"Anyone with information is asked to come forward and contact police via 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers."
