Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) announced new measures to fight the spread of the coronavirus in the community today (March 19).

Starting immediately, MVDC said it had closed the Fairfield Community Centre in Leatherhead.

Community transport services provided by the council have also been suspended from Thursday indefinitely.

Announcing the measures on Thursday, MVDC's Cabinet Member for Community, Councillor Hazel Watson, said:

"With the health and wellbeing of the vulnerable in our community a priority and following the latest Government advice regarding the Coronavirus, the Mole Valley Life Fairfield Centre, in Leatherhead, will close from today, March 19, until further notice.

"All Mole Valley Life Community Transport Services (bar school transport), will also suspend operations indefinitely from March 19.

"These closures will be kept under constant review and decisions will be taken in line with the latest Government advice.

"If you have paid for any future events or classes at the Fairfield Centre, or paid for any up-coming Community Transport, our Mole Valley Life Customer Services team will be contacting you directly."

Cllr Watson added that MVDC would be updating this information on its website regularly and thanked community service users for their patience.
