Bexley has announced it is to temporarily cease any court action for debt against residents and businesses in light of the coronavirus outbreak.
The decision follows after several businesses face temporary closure in response to the growing number of coronavirus cases.
It is believed around 55,000 people in the UK now have coronavirus.
Councillor Teresa O’Neill said: “We understand that this is very stressful for everyone.
"Our primary concern right now is for the people of Bexley and how we can support them in this very challenging situation.
"So we have decided to suspend all our court action for debt and will not be pursuing people while this situation lasts.”
Bexley is to also warrant a series of temporary rate reliefs and support for businesses in response to the outbreak.
