A Croydon man was charged with knife and drug offences after police searched him during a traffic stop in Surbiton.
19-year-old Mervin Sebamalai from Croydon, was arrested and charged on Monday (March 23) with possession of an offensive weapon, possession of cannabis, and using a motor vehicle without MOT.
"The charges relate to a vehicle stop by officers from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command on Kingsdowne Road in Surbiton, during which a lock knife was found," a spokesperson for the Met Police said.
A Met spokesperson added that Sebamalai was taken into police custody where he was bailed to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 6, 2020.
