A man has been charged with murder after the fatal shooting of Swedish man Flamur Beqiri in Battersea on Christmas Eve last year.

22 year old Anis Fouad Hemissi, a Swedish National, was extradited from Denmark and returned to the UK this morning (June 8) following his arrest at Copenhagen Airport on 20 January under a European Arrest Warrant.

He was charged with murder and is due to appear in court tomorrow (Tuesday, June 9).

Beqiri was 36 years old when he was fatally shot on the night of Christmas Eve, 2019, on Church Road in Battersea, outside his nearby home.

In a heartfelt statement released via Scotland Yard, days after the killing, his family thanked everyone who had sent them condolences and described their shock and grief.

"We thank everyone for their kind thoughts and condolences.

"Our family are in a state of shock and are grieving. To have so much sadness at this time of the year is heartbreaking," their short statement read.
