A MAN that was found dead at a North Wales beauty spot has been named.

An inquest was opened on July 13 into the death of Wrexham-born Matthew John Collins.

John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales east and central, told a hearing at Denbighshire County Hall in Ruthin that the 33-year-old was living in Abergele at the time of his death.

Mr Gittins said that Collins, of Ffordd y Berllan, Towyn, was pronounced dead on June 29 at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, near Trevor, shortly after 10am.

Mr Gittins said that a post-mortem exam would be carried out which returned a provisional cause of death as ‘chest and abdominal trauma’.

He went on to say the nature of Collins death would require a full inquest investigation, which was adjourned to a date yet to be fixed.
