A man has been arrested after being found in possession of 'hundreds' of suspected class A drugs, £60k in cash and a knife at a house in Tooting.
The raid took place at around 8.22 pm, on London Road, after officers from the VSU noticed what appeared to be a drug deal take place between two men, one inside a car, on July 22.
Officers from the Violence Suppression Unit (VCU) checked the man’s phone, where they saw a text relating to drug supply on the home screen.
After searching his home they found 300-400 wraps of suspected class A drugs, 1.5 kilos of cannabis, approximately £60,000 cash and a large rambo style knife.
Detective Inspector Alison Foxwell, who runs South West BCU’s Violence Suppression Unit, said:
“This arrest shows just how valuable the VSUs are. The team were on proactive patrol in the area and spotted the deal take place. They have taken a significant amount of drugs and a weapon off the streets of London.
“Tackling violence in all its forms is the Met’s top priority and good work like this demonstrates we are making a difference.”
Enquiries are continuing.
