The most recent weekly dataset for coronavirus cases reported in Local Authorities across the country has revealed a general decline in cases across southeast London.

The number of new coronavirus cases per rolling seven-day periods have been jumping up and down with reasonable consistency in the area over the last month, staying below worrying rates.

The figures are released by Public Health England on a rolling seven-day basis, showing the number of new cases of the virus per 100,000 people, based on tests carried out in laboratories and in the wider community.

The latest data is for the seven days running up to August 4 (the previous three days are always excluded as they are likely to be revised).

Bromley is the only borough to have seen an increase in cases, rising from 1.8 cases per 100,00 people (6 new cases) in the 7 days leading up to July 28, to 3 cases per the same number (10 new cases).

Some experts have suggested the infection rate for coronavirus across the country is levelling off – with the rate of infection wavering around similar levels across parts of the country.

But the infection rate in the capital remains relatively low compared to the UK's worst coronavirus hotspots.

In Pendle, the rate has jumped from 40.2 in the seven days to July 28 to 78.2 in the seven days to August 4. A total of 72 new cases have been recorded.
