Amid a surge in the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus across the UK, we have compiled a list of the South London schools that we have reported to have confirmed cases of the virus since they reopened earlier this month.

The following list is based on cases that have been alerted to us and confirmed:

Wilmington Academy, Dartford

A year ten student at this Dartford school tested positive for coronavirus, as reported by News Shopper on Friday (September 18).

Wilmington Academy informed parents earlier during the week, advising them that all students and staff that may have been in contact with the infected student had been asked to self-isolate for 14 days.

All affected classrooms and communal areas of the mixed secondary were deep cleaned in line with guidance from Public Health England.

Principal Michael Gore wrote: “In line with guidance from Public Health England we are now asking all the students and staff that may have had contact with the infected student to self-isolate for at least 14 days in line with the official guidance from Public Health England.

“It is unlikely that any of these people will have yet developed COVID-19 so self-isolation is a precautionary step to prevent them from passing it on to anyone else in the school."

Glenthorne High School, Sutton

A sixth form student tested positive with coronavirus earlier this week.

Parents and carers were informed Thursday that a Year 13 student had a confirmed case of Covid-19.

In an email sent to parents on September 17, head teacher Stephen Hume's said that only a "small number" of students had come into contact with the infected person.

Only those who were in close proximity with the student will be made to self-isolate for 14 days.

All Saints Benhilton primary school, Sutton

Parents at All Saints were notified on September 16 that a child, in Year 2, tested positive for Covid-19.

The school said they have made the decision to "proactively isolate any children and staff members that have come in close contact with the child."

John Fisher Catholic Boys School, Purley

The school asked all Year 8 pupils to self isolate following a positive test result for a Year 8 pupil.

Devonshire Primary School

Devonshire Primary School instructed their entire Year 2 class to stay home after a teacher tested positive last week.

Kemnal Technology College at Sidcup

Kemnal Tech College confirmed a year 10 student had received a positive coronavirus result last week.

In a letter to parents, the college said plans for teaching in “year group bubbles” was done in preparation for the scenario.

All students in year 10 were subsequently told to work from home while the school awaited further guidance from Public Health England.

Red Hill Primary School in Chislehurst

Head teacher at Red Hill Primary School Nicola Crockatt confirmed on Thursday (September 10) a member of the school community tested positive for Covid-19 the week prior.

“They were asymptomatic and the individual was undertaking routine testing as part of the National Office of Statistics,” Ms Crockatt said.

“The school identified all close contacts of the individual who were asked to isolate for 14 days and were advised to book a test if they began to show symptoms.

The Bromley campus confirmed a positive case earlier this month, but are still encouraging students to attend as any staff members affected are in self-isolation.

A spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a member of staff at London South East Colleges’ Bromley campus has tested positive for Covid-19.

"We are working with Public Health England and following all guidance necessary to ensure the College environment is as safe as possible."

Trinity School in Lewisham

The Lewisham school which teaches primary through to secondary, was forced to delay their reopening after a confirmed case.

A statement on their website reads: "Trinity School will delay reopening as planned on Monday September 7, following a confirmed case of Covid-19 at the school in a member of staff."

Adamsrill Primary School Sydenham

Students in Year 4 were urged to stay at home after a case was confirmed.

A letter addressed to parents said: "This letter is to inform you that a person at Adamsrill School has tested positive for Covid-19.

"The only bubble which is affected at this point in time is the Year 4 bubble."

West Thornton Primary School, Croydon

A primary school in Thornton Heath was forced to delay the return of a number of its pupils after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19 coronavirus.

Earlier this month (September 7), the school announced that a staff member tested positive for the virus and that it had immediately changed its plans for reopening.

St Michaels Primary School, Wandsworth

This Christian primary in Southfields faced positive cases among students in both the Year 2 and Year 4 groups, with other children are 'displaying symptoms'.

Earlier this month (September 8) an email told parents so that they were "aware of the situation and implications it has".

The email described how children in the impacted bubbles were forced to self-isolate for 14 days, with those displayed symptoms requiring tests.
