A MAN has been charged with the murder of a 23-year-old who was found on fire in Mitcham last week. 

Raphael Kokkinos, 33, of Polworth Road, Streatham, was charged with the murder of Loeike Guei on September 25. 

The charge follows a homicide investigation into the death of Loeike Guei from Thornton Heath.

Police were called to Commonside East at 6.12 am on September 17 to reports of a man on fire.

Officers attended the scene and the body of a man was found. 

A post-mortem gave a head injury as the preliminary cause of death.

Raphael Kokkinos will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrate's Court later today. 

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, who led the investigation said: 
"Loeike’s family have been intensely shocked by the loss of their loved one and are at the very beginning of coming to terms with their grief.

"Foremost in our thoughts are their welfare – they are being supported by specially trained officers and we ask that their privacy is respected at this terribly sad time."
