A man is currently in critical condition following a stabbing in Mitcham town centre.
Residents and passers-by discovered a police cordon around an area by Majestic Way since this morning (October 6).
Police have now confirmed they were called in the early hours of the morning to reports of a man having been stabbed.
A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called at approximately 01:35hrs on Tuesday, October 6, to reports of a man stabbed in Majestic Way, Mitcham.
"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, believed aged in his 30s, suffering a stab injury.
"He was taken to a south London hospital for treatment – he remains there in a critical condition."
The spokesman confirmed that no arrests have yet been made, but an investigation is ongoing.
