Footage shows firefighters tackling a flat fire in Wandsworth this morning.

A video captures the blaze in Putney this morning, where 10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters battled flames at the scene.

The London Fire Brigade was called to Montserrat Road, SW15, at 10:20am on Monday (December 7).

An eyewitness said:

“I looked out the window and realised there was a dark plume of smoke exiting the flat window, so our neighbours called 999. Within three minutes the smoke had gotten a lot darker, and it covered the whole of the roof.

"Another two minutes went by and a huge flame was visible, it continued to grow and grow. It all happened so quickly, that by the time the fire engines arrived it was completely engulfing the central part of the roof.

"It was absolutely devastating to watch and must have been terrifying for everyone involved. I hope the man rescued is in good health. It’s still steaming now and the damage is awful, but it’s been put out.”

A man was rescued from the fire and is being treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
