Police have charged a man suspected of dealing Class A drugs after a cache of guns was found at the address he was arrested in.

On Monday (March 29), a spokesperson for the Met Police confirmed that 28-year-old Justin Simister had been charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after he was arrested last week.

He was charged during an appearance at Bromley Magistrates Court on Saturday (March 27).

Police said he has since been detained on remand and is due to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on April 23.

The raid that led to the 28-year-old's arrest took place on Thursday, March 25, on Camberwell New Road in Kennington.

A total of eight people have been released under investigation since the raid in relation to discovery of three firearms and ammunition at the address.

Possession of firearm offences has risen in recent months according to official Met Police data.

Statistics available on the Met Police website show that reported possession of firearm crimes in London rose from 25 in December 2020 to 30 in January 2021 and 39 last month (February 2021).
