Postal services have been disrupted in south London after access to a delivery office was blocked by a murder scene police cordon.

Streatham Delivery Office, on Prentis Road, will remain closed today, after a teenager was stabbed to death on the same street yesterday afternoon.

Deliveries today will be “minimal”, with priority given to items processed last night and diverted to a nearby office.

A spokesperson said: “We're very sorry to advise a serious incident occurred last night close to the Streatham Delivery Office. Due to the Police cordon that's in place, our staff cannot gain access to the office and it will remain closed today.

“As a result, deliveries will be minimal today, Friday June 11. Priority will be given to new Special Delivery and Tracked 24 items processed last night and diverted to a neighbouring office.

“The Customer Service Point will also be closed during this period of disruption.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these circumstances beyond our control.

“We'll add any new information to our Service Updates page as and when available.”

Scotland Yard said that four men and three women have been detained “on suspicion of various offences” following the stabbing.
