A MAP has revealed that parts of London and surrounding areas could be submerged underwater by 2030.

On Sunday ( July 26 ), tube stations, hospitals and neighbourhood streets were hit with torrential rain which battered parts of the UK.

Shocking footage circulated online which documented a number of areas that have been affected by the flash floods including in south London and Surrey.

The London Fire Brigade said they were called to flooding incidents including homes, collapsed ceilings and vehicles on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were also called to Worcester Park in south west London to rescue five people from a vehicle that had been submerged underwater.

According to an analysis by Climate Central, large parts of London and counties bordering the River Thames will be underwater in less than a decade.

South London

Major landmarks and properties at risk include the Imperial War Museum, London Southbank University and The Oval Cricket Ground.

The map listed the following areas as danger zones: Deptford, Rotherhithe, Bermondsey, Camberwell, Walworth, Vauxhall Lambeth, Battersea, Wandsworth.

East London

Big attractions such as the London Olympic Stadium, Stratford Westfield, Reach Power Station and London City Airport are at risk.

Danger zones include: Dagenham, Barking, Thamesmead, Ilford, Abbey Wood, Forest Gate, Rainham, East Ham, Plaistow, Canning Town, Stratford, Hackey through to Tottenham, Leyton, Lee Valley, Poplar, Greenwich, Canary Wharf, Lime House, The Isle of Dogs.

West London

Wandsworth Times: Climate Central Climate Central

Attractions and landmarks such as Battersea Park Children's Zoo, Charing Cross Hospital and Chelsea Football Club are all at risk.

Danger zones include: Kew, Brentford, Isleworth, Richmond, Twickenham, Chelsea, Fulham, Hammersmith, Shephard's Bush, Chiswick, Grove Park and Mortlake.

Essex and Kent

Wandsworth Times: Climate Central Climate Central

Landmark Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock could be partially flooded according to the map.

Danger zones listed included: Dartford, Gravesend, Purfleet, Grays, Tilbury, South Wooden Ferrers, Wickford, Burnham-on-Crouch, Deal, Rochester, Canvey Island, Leigh-on-sea, Westcliff-on-sea and Shoeburyness.
