A teenager has been charged after boarding a bus with a knife in Brixton and possessing cannabis.

Officers were called by a member of the public to reports of a man with a knife boarding the bus in Brixton at around 3.20pm on Monday, July 26.

Armed officers attended the scene and arrested a 17-year-old man.

He appeared at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 27 and is next due to appear at the same court on September 24.

He has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a controlled substance class B (Cannabis).

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “A 17-year-old male, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a controlled substance class B (Cannabis) on Tuesday, 27 July.

“This comes after officers were called by a member of the public who reported a male in possession of a knife boarding a bus in Brixton at 15:17hrs on Monday, 26 July.

“Specially trained armed officers attended the scene and arrested a 17-year-old male.

“He appeared at Bexley Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 27 July. He is next due to appear at the same court on 24 September.”
