The news came in yesterday from Sajid Javid that vaccine passports to gain entry into nightclubs or crowded events would no longer be required as originally planned.

The Health Secretary told The Andrew Marr Show: “I’ve never liked the idea of saying to people you must show your papers or something to do what is just an everyday activity, but we were right to properly look at it.

“We’ve looked at it properly and whilst we should keep it in reserve as a potential option, I’m pleased to say that we will not be going ahead with plans for vaccine passports.”

There were a mix of reactions overall - with some supporting the decision to scrap the passes, some wishing they were happening and others unsure.

We asked YOU whether this U-turn was the right decision, and here's how south London residents responded:

Charlotte Dolan: "It was always just a scare tactic was never gonna happen"

Hazel Torode: "It’s about time they all see there’s no sense in it we all can pass the virus on vax or not"

Amy Brahan: "Yes!! (the decision was right)"

JJ Wayne: "Yes should be scrapped its everyone's choice if they wish to have the vaccine or not"

Peter Bond: "No, we have already seen what relying on people’s common sense (or lack thereof) has done for the infection rates over the last 18 months.

"This will need to be instituted after the upcoming Xmas holiday stupidity if not before, wait and see."

Ivan Powell said: "The right decision."

Jade Goodman said: "To be honest I think we've all been living under so many rules, I do see how it would help but on the other hand I think we should all be allowed to start living again."

Pamela Kent said: "No (not the right decision)"

Tony Woodward said: "Common sense for a change"

Alice Edwards said: "Who knows? I suppose we will soon find out."
