A 16-year-old has been taken into custody after a crash in Putney this summer left a man suffering serious injuries.

The teenager, 16, was sentenced to a 'Detention Training Order' or DTO for 12 months on Monday, October 18. The first half of a Detention and Training Order is served in custody, the second half is served in the community.

He pleaded guilty to a number of offences related to the crash. These were causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failure to stop, driving without insurance, driving while disqualified and aggravated vehicle taking.

Court details showed that the crime and others associated with it were "so serious that only a sentence of detention can be justified".

The Wandsworth Times reported previously how emergency services responded to the scene of the crash close to the junction of Putney High Street and Upper Richmond Road on August 24.

A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, while police later confirmed that the crash had occurred as officers pursued the driver of a car that had failed to stop.

It subsequently emerged that the man hurt had been Hrvoje 'H' Damjanovic, a popular doorman at Annabel’s club in London for whom over £36,000 was raised in donations in the aftermath of the incident.

The fundraiser, organised by H's friend Henry Lukas, detailed how his injuries were so severe that medical staff were forced to amputate his leg below the knee.

In addition to the DTO sentence, the 16-year-old who was found culpable was also ordered to pay victim surcharges of £34 pounds and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 42 months.
