Wandsworth residents have spoken with the Wandsworth Times about their thoughts on the Omicron variant in Wandsworth.

The Wandsworth Times visited Wandsworth high street on Monday evening (November 29) and caught up with locals.

They discussed their thoughts and feelings around the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, being in Wandsworth.

Some were also asked if they will be complying with the new rules that came into play at 4.00am this morning (November 30).

These include wearing a mask in shops and on public transport, and having to take a PCR test and isolate before a negative result when travelling to England.

A fair few striked concern, and others agreed to following the rules.

Others seemed to be sick and tired of hearing about new variants.

Here’s what locals had to say:

Peaches Griffiths said: "It’s sad but yes- I'll be following the new rules. I have no choice!"

Henry said: “I haven’t really thought about the new variant, we’re pretty tired of hearing about it now!”

Laurie added: “We are following all of the rules, but it’s getting too much now.”

Jessica said: “We should all be taking it seriously- with stricter precautions than the ones at the moment.”

Wandsworth duo, Declan and Matt shared their reaction to the new Omicron variant.

Declan said: “We want it to end but understand the precautions.”

Matt responded: “Most definitely- I will be wearing masks on public transports and in shops.”

Another local resident, Matthew Le-surf shared his honest opinions on the new restrictions.

Matthew said: "I'll be following the rules to a degree... You can already see the rise of cases again.

“Even at my work people have it, so it's back to the masks and keeping distant"

"It's a shame not everyone is vaccinated, especially when it's the time of year where we all want to see our family.

“It feels like we’re at the start of 2020 and it’s happening all over again.”

Emily Kelly responded to Matt: "I completely agree, but fingers crossed if we follow the guidelines, we will see an improvement".
