Jamie, one of the competitors, has lived in London all his life – and began his culinary career working in restaurants.

Jamie told the Wandsworth Times that the MasterChef competition has been “great so far” and that he “wouldn’t have changed a thing”.

In an exclusive chat with the Wandsworth Times, Jamie said the MasterChef competition has been “great so far” and that he “wouldn’t have changed a thing”.

He said: “I’m feeling really good.

“The episode is going to be exciting to watch- it’s definitely been a long time coming.

“The entire experience has been great and I wouldn’t have changed a thing.”

Jamie said the show was “quite daunting to begin with” but he “enjoyed every second” once he was settled in.

He explained: “To begin with, it was quite a daunting experience.

“But I enjoyed every second once I got into it.

“It’s great because you learn so much about your dishes and the elements that you see yourself.”

Jamie says he maintains his focus by pre-planning and staying organised.

He added: “I try to be as organised as possible and pre plan so everything turns out well.

“I wasn’t as organised at the beginning- you learn the organisational structure as you go on in the career.

“But now I just remain calm and try not to stress.

“As soon as you stress you start to forget and make mistakes- so calm is key.”

Jamie told the Wandsworth Times that he learnt to be organised with “practise”.

He added: “The more practise you have, the more confident you’ll become.

“The more confident you become, the more you achieve.”

The cooking competition is judged by Monica Galetti, Gregg Wallace and Michelin-starred chef Marcus Wareing.

MasterChef: The Professionals Semi Finals are on tonight (Tuesday), Wednesday and Thursday, at 9.00pm on BBC
