A CONTROVERSIAL penalty scored by Fabinho gave Liverpool all three points over a spirited Palace side.
Palace had fought back into the contest with Odsonne Edouard's second-half strike after Liverpool went into the break two goals up.
But the penalty was the nail in the coffin as Palace were defeated by Jurgen Klopp's Reds.
Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira brought first-choice goalkeeper Vicente Guaita back into the starting XI.
Jack Butland did save a penalty while deputising at Brighton but had to settle with a spot on the bench alongside Ebere Eze.
Jean-Philippe Mateta took Eze’s place in the starting line-up and Jordan Ayew was also named as a substitute following his early return from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Klopp’s Liverpool side took the lead after only eight minutes in London.
Andrew Robertson’s out-swinging corner was met by Virgil Van Dijk, who powered a header past Guaita in the Crystal Palace area to make it 1-0.
It was just punishment for the Palace’s slow start at Selhurst Park.
Liverpool continued to dominate and doubled their lead in the 31st minute through Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The midfielder was picked out at the back post by Robertson, and his half-volleyed effort beat Guaita to put the Reds in a commanding position.
The Eagles started the second half very well as Conor Gallagher and Odsonne Eduoard both missed great chances to get a goal back.
Their hard work paid off though as Eduoard did get his side back into the game.
Strike partner Mateta was played through by Jeffrey Schlupp in the 54th minute and squared the ball to Edouard to tap home.
Palace did try to find an equaliser but found it difficult to break through the Liverpool defence.
Olise came close to a leveller in the 82nd minute, when his lobbed effort was clawed out of the goal by Alisson.
Liverpool wrapped up the victory when Fabinho slotted home from the penalty spot with a minute left.
Jota won the spot-kick after he had been played through on goal and collided with Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.
It seemed innocuous but after VAR told referee Kevin Friend to have another look at the incident, he decided to point to the spot and the visitors made it 3-1 late on.
Palace return to action in the FA Cup next Saturday as they host Hartlepool, in terms of Premier League football Vieira's side's next match is away at Norwich City on February 9.
