A “do not travel” warning has been issued to commuters this morning by South Western Railway as Storm Franklin sweeps in across south London.
This comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning across the south of England.
A 50mph speed restriction will also be in place for trains throughout the day due to the increased risk of fallen trees and debris on the tracks.
The railway operator warned it may be unable to guarantee replacement travel services if trains are cancelled.
The disruption to train services is expected to last until the end of the day, according to South Western.
Network Rail announced they cleared more than 50 fallen trees on the South Western network since last Friday (February 18).
Passengers who have already bought a ticket for travel between February 18 and Monday, February 21 and have not been able to travel, can use it tomorrow (February 22).
National Rail has also warned anyone making essential journeys to expect major disruption on routes.
Southeastern rail has also urged customers not to travel today.
