A fire at a converted house in Putney has destroyed half of two flats inside and left a large portion of the roof exposed.

Fire crews were called to the blaze on Dealtry Road at around 5pm on Saturday, April 23.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Wandsworth, Fulham, Edmonton, Richmond and Wimbledon fire stations attended the scene.

The fire was brought under control by around 7pm with crews trying to salvage tenant’s possessions from inside and minimise the damage.

The Brigade used a 32-metre turntable ladder as an observational tower to check for any remaining spots that had a risk of reignition.

Nobody was injured in the fire and the cause of the blaze is now under investigation.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a flat fire on Dealtry Road in Putney.

“Half of two flats on the first floor of a converted, detached house were damaged by fire.

“Half of the roof was also damaged by the blaze.

“There were no reports of any injuries.

“Crews carried out salvage operations to recover items and minimise damage.

“One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders was used as an observational tower to check for any remaining hotspots.

“The Brigade was called at 1707 and the fire was under control by 1854.

“Fire crews from Wandsworth, Fulham, Edmonton, Richmond, Wimbledon and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
