An 84-year-old Italian man with dementia has gone missing in Greenwich during a holiday in the UK.

Carlos Zamboni was last seen in Lee High Road at around 8.30pm last night (June 24).

Police are concerned as Carlos has dementia and a number of medical issues requiring medication, which means he is vulnerable.

He can’t speak English and may try to speak to people in Italian, as well as gravitating towards Italian restaurants or takeaways.

Carlos has been staying in The Plantation SE3 with his family since yesterday (June 23) and is due to return home to Italy on Sunday.

The family realised he was missing at around 7.45pm yesterday.

A spokesperson for Greenwich Police said: “Police are concerned for the welfare of an Italian national who is missing in south London.

“Carlos Zamboni, 84, arrived in the UK on Thursday, 23 June and is due to return home on Sunday.

“He is staying with family in The Plantation SE3.

“They realised he was missing at around 7.45pm yesterday.

“Carlos was last seen in Lee High Road around 8.30pm.

“He has dementia dementia and a number of medical issues for which he requires medication, and may appear confused or disoriented.

“He does not speak any English and may try to speak to people in Italian.

“He may gravitate towards Italian restaurants or takeaways – police have contacted multiple outlets in the local area asking for any information but as yet there have been no other sightings.

“Carlos’ family and police are asking anyone who sees him to call 101 ref 22MIS021643.”
