Gun shots were fined on a road in Streatham in broad daylight after the driver of a car argued with two men who had just crossed the road.

The incident happened at around 2.50pm on Saturday in Mitcham Road - which lies between Streatham and Tooting.

Police say the driver of a car was seen to get into an argument with two men who had just crossed the street.

The driver is then reported to have got out of the car and fired gun shots.

Everyone involved then left the scene.

No one was injured.

No arrests have been made and police enquiries continue.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Police are appealing after a firearm was discharged in the street.

"The incident happened at about 14:50hrs on Saturday, 2 July on Mitcham Lane, SW16.

"The driver of a car was seen to get into an argument with two men who had just crossed the street.

"It appears the driver of the car then got out of the vehicle and discharged a firearm.

"All parties then left the scene, there are no reports of any injuries.

"Evidence of a firearm discharge was later recovered by police.

"No arrests and enquiries continue.

"Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or contact via Twitter @MetCC.
