A WOMAN suffered head and facial injuries and when her husband confronted the attacker he was assaulted as well.

The incident happened in Wilcox Road at 3pm on July 12.

Following the attack, the husband, who was inside a shop when it happened, confronted the attacker who then assaulted him as well causing a minor injury.

The couple's two young children, although not physically hurt, were left extremely distressed by the attack on their mum.

The woman was taken to a south London hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Her injuries were not life-threatening.

A 42-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

She was taken to a south London police station and was subsequently released under investigation.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “The 42-year-old victim was assaulted by a woman on Wilcox Road, SW8 at around 15:00hrs on Tuesday, 12 July.

“The victim suffered head and facial injuries.

“She did not know her attacker.

“The victim’s husband, who was inside a shop when the incident happened, came to her aid and confronted the suspect who assaulted him causing a minor injury.

“The victim’s two young children, although not physically injured, were extremely distressed by the attack on their mother.

“The injured woman was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a south London hospital; her injuries were not life-threatening.

“Police arrested a 42-year-old woman nearby on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

“She was taken to a south London police station and was subsequently released under investigation.
