A woman has been left with a fractured eye socket after a man attacked her on a bus in Lambeth.

Police have released an e-fit of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the assault.

On Thursday, June 2, a woman in her 20s boarded the 59 or 159 bus from Brixton Road in Lambeth.

As she got onto the bus at around 4.40pm, a man followed her and confronted her before attacking her.

The woman fled the bus and managed to get help.

The victim was then rushed to hospital where it was confirmed that the attack had led to her eye socket becoming fractured.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police investigating a serious assault on a woman have released an e-fit of a man they want to identify and speak to.

“At approximately 16:40hrs on Thursday, 2 June the victim, a woman in her 20s, boarded route 59 or 159 bus in Brixton Road, SW9.

“As she boarded, she was followed by a man who confronted her before launching a sustained assault.

“The woman managed to get off the bus and seek help.

“An ambulance was called and she was taken to hospital where it was confirmed she’d suffered a fractured eye socket.

“Detectives investigating the incident have released an e-fit of the suspect and are asking anyone who recognises this person, or who has any information that could assist this investigation, to get in contact.
