A 18-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon after a stabbing on-board a Victoria line Tube.

Amarjay Nkemayang of Crawshay Road appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on November 25.

He has been remanded in custody.

It comes after the police were called to Stockwell Underground station at 2:52pm on November 32 following reports they received of a fight on-board a northbound Victoria line Tube.

A 16-year-old and 18-year-old were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and being in possession of offensive weapons at the location.

They were both taken to hospital for treatment.

The 18-year-old received treatment for minor injuries and was discharged to police custody.

The 16-year-old remains in hospital and is receiving treatment on two puncture wounds.

His injuries are potentially life-changing but not life-threatening.

Detective Inspector Paul Attwell said: “This was a particularly violent incident on a busy Tube service that has resulted in a young man sustaining serious injuries.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was on-board the Tube at the time or at Stockwell Underground station as they may have information that could greatly assist our investigation.

“Witnesses, or anyone with information, can contact us by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 341 of 23 November.

“Passengers can expect to see additional officers at Stockwell Underground station following the incident and I would urge the public to approach them if they have any concerns or information relating to yesterday’s incident.”

Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses.
