An urgent hunt is underway to find a driver after a man died in a hit and run in Lambeth.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 10.49pm last night (Monday, March 20) to the crash involving a car and a pedestrian in Wandsworth Road.
A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have said that the driver of the car did not stop at the scene and there are urgent enquiries ongoing to trace it.
Road closures and a crime scene are in place.
The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Police ask that anyone with information, witnesses or drivers with dash cam footage call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8285 1574 ref CAD 7741/20 Mar.
Alternatively, call 101 quoting CAD 7741/20MAY23.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “An investigation is ongoing following a fatal collision in Lambeth.
“Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 22:49hrs on Monday, 20 March to Wandsworth Road SW8 following reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
“A man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
“The driver of the car did not stop at the scene.
“Urgent enquiries to trace it are ongoing.
“Road closures and a crime scene are in place.
