I tried a new Bridgerton afternoon tea at a central London hotel to celebrate the launch of the new series - and the hotel even has its own resident cat.

To mark the launch of season three of Bridgerton, The Lanesborough has relaunched its popular Bridgerton afternoon tea for another year, with a menu of new treats and a Bridgerton-themed cocktail.

Located a short walk from Hyde Park, this opulent hotel makes the perfect setting for a Bridgerton afternoon tea, with Georgian interiors from when the building was first built in 1719.

The hotel also has a resident cat named Lilibet after the late queen, who can often be found wandering around the hotel or lounging on one of the chairs in the reception.

She clearly knew her worth as the hotel celebrity and was very happy to be lavished with attention without breaking her slumber.

The afternoon tea has treats inspired by different characters in the series and came presented on a wisteria-decorated cake stand.

They also have a broad selection of teas including their Bridgerton Blend Afternoon Tea, a black tea made with a combination of fruits and rose petals.

To start with we began with sandwiches, which consisted of traditional servings of egg mayonnaise, poached chicken and sour cream, smoked salmon and cucumber, along with a cream cheese and kale tartlet.

This was followed by fresh plain and fruit scones served with fresh clotted cream, jam and lemon curd.

Moving onto the sweet treats, these are themed to resemble different elements of the series, with little details from chocolate feathers and cameo stamps to Bridgerton-inspired colours.

We first tried The Book of Eloise, a blueberry mousse served between white chocolate fashioned to resemble the books that Lady Eloise loves so much

We then tried The Lady Whistledown, a grapefruit jelly served within a white chocolate casing and finished with a little chocolate cameo and feather.

The afternoon tea also featured a chocolate treat inspired by Colin Bridgerton named Colin's Travels, a dark chocolate spondee topped with chocolate cream.

Finally, we shared The Social Butterfly, inspired by the reveal of Penelope’s new look this green-themed dessert is a delicious pistachio treat made with pistachio cream and sponge and topped with an intercut butterfly.

We also tried the Friends to Lovers cocktail, a twist on a Margarita with tequila, cherries, cranberry juke, honey lime and finished with coconut sprinkles on the rim and a feather.

All in all, this is the season's must-do afternoon tea for any Bridgerton fan looking to celebrate a birthday or special occasion.

It would simply be a scandal to miss it.

Bridgerton Afternoon Tea at the Lanesborough is currently running with places bookable from £85 a person.
