A new NHS walk-in centre and GP practise is to open in Battersea on Tuesday, March 30.

Residents are invited to an open day this Saturday, March 27, from 10am to 3pm, to meet the healthcare team and pre-register.

The Junction Health Centre is in the Sendall Court Car Park, Grant Road, next to the exit of Clapham Junction Station.

Provided in addition to the existing healthcare services in Battersea, the centre will offer services for registered and unregistered patients, from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.

Services will include treatment for minor illnesses and injuries.

Patients will have the choice of remaining registered with their local GP, but using the centre’s walk-in services when their own practice is closed.

The service will be run by Care UK, national providers of health and social care and will be supported by ATM medics, a group of six locally trained GPs.

Graham Mackenzie, NHS Wandsworth’s director of commissioning, said: “This is an important service, providing better access to a range of GP and health services so that local people can receive treatment in a centre closer to their home rather than in a hospital. This is in line with what local residents told us they want and clearly demonstrates our ongoing commitment to provide better healthcare access for people in Wandsworth.”

The service will be run out of temporary units while the permanent structure is being finished.
